To the University Community:

Before we conclude this academic year, I wanted to send a short note relating to matters of University leadership.

Mike Allen, the vice president for Student Affairs, will leave us this summer to begin his tenure as president of Barry University in Miami, Florida.  We wish him well.  We have launched a search for Mike’s successor.  Jonathan Sawyer, the associate vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students, has agreed to serve in the interim.

On July 1, Provost Andrew Abela will return to the Tim and Steph Busch School of Business as its dean.  We announced earlier that Andrew’s successor as provost will be Dean Aaron Dominguez of the School of Arts and Sciences.  A search committee will soon begin the process to look for a new Arts and Sciences dean.  Ordinary Professor of Politics David Walsh has agreed to serve as interim dean.

Finally, in the National Catholic School of Social Service, Interim Dean Marie Raber has agreed to continue serving in that role for the next year.

I want to thank all the interims for your willingness to serve. Thanks as well to all faculty and staff for your work this year.  May you find time to rest this summer.

Sincerely,

John Garvey
President
