Rev. Ian Ker teaches theology at Oxford, where he is senior research fellow in the theology at St. Benet's Hall. He has taught both English literature and theology at universities in Britain and the United States. He is generally recognized as the leading authority on the life and thought of Blessed John Henry Newman, on whom he is the author and editor of more than 20 books, including the Oxford critical edition of The Idea of a University (1976) and the standard biography (1988) which was re-issued by Oxford University Press in 2009. He is also the author of The Catholic Revival in English Literature 1845-1961 (2003), Mere Catholicism (2006), and the forthcoming G. K. Chesterton: A Biography (2011).
