Faculty and Staff Celebrate Inauguration with CUA President

Faculty and staff members of The Catholic University of America gathered in the Great Room of the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center today to celebrate the Jan. 25 inauguration of President John Garvey.

Reception guests lined up outside the Great Room for a chance to shake hands with Garvey and his wife, Jeanne.

"Both of us feel happy, welcome, spoiled, and at home," Garvey told the crowd after noting all the ways CUA faculty and staff members have assisted his family since he became president in July.

The reception was part of a weeklong series of events in which all members of the CUA community had the opportunity to celebrate Garvey's inauguration. Later tonight, students and the Garveys will attend an Inaugural Ball in the Great Room.

Throughout the rest of the spring semester, the university will host several events tied to Garvey's inaugural year theme of "Intellect and Virtue: The Idea of a Catholic University." For more information, visit http://president.cua.edu/.
